Overview
The Crimson Paladins are a Blood Angels company assigned to safeguard civilian populations during periods of instability and danger. They present themselves as exemplars of disciplined restraint: immaculate in conduct, swift in action and unwavering in their protection of the vulnerable.
Command
The company is led by Commander Aurelan Thane, who bears the title Protector-Marshal.
Purpose at Vandros
As rival governors contend for control, the Crimson Paladins’ stated mission is to preserve life, maintain order and uphold the stability of the Imperium. Their interventions are directed towards shielding civilian populations from the dangers of the unfolding crisis.
Current Stance
The Crimson Paladins maintain a position of political neutrality. Their stated concern is the protection of the vulnerable and the preservation of Imperial stability, rather than the advancement of either claimant.
This mission provides common ground with other Imperial forces. The Salamanders’ concern for civilian lives makes them natural partners in protective operations, while cooperation with the Ultramarines and Imperial Guard depends upon shared objectives rather than agreement over the succession. Imperial allegiance alone does not resolve disagreements over how civilians should be protected.
Xenos forces threatening Imperial populations stand opposed to their declared purpose, as do the forces of Chaos. Against Drukhari raids, Ork attacks or a Tyranid advance, the Paladins’ public position is the same: the vulnerable must be defended, regardless of which claimant governs them.
