Krugdreg’s Kutters

Faction: Orks - Bloodaxes, Deathskulls, Evil Sunz and more

Commander: Warboss Krugdreg

Overview

Krugdreg’s Kutters are a growing Ork warband, bound by the promise of loot, fungus beer and spectacular violence. Known among their own as Da Firm, their loyalties converge upon Krugdreg, whose cunning and brutality have repeatedly brought otherwise unruly rivals under one banner.

Walkers, looted machinery and ramshackle war engines are central to the Kutters’ way of war. Workshops turn captured matériel into fresh weapons, while Kommandos, mobile mobs and tellyporters help deliver those weapons where the enemy least wants them. On Vallus Abitum, even serious setbacks failed to destroy the machinery sustaining Krugdreg’s army.

Within Da Firm, shared scraps have created loyalties that endure beyond the division of the loot. An injury to one mob can become the business of the whole warband. Grudges are remembered, retaliation is organised, and an enemy who believes an encounter concluded may discover that the Kutters have arranged a return visit.

Command

The warband is led by Warboss Krugdreg, a colossal green skinned beast, perpetually shadowed by his vicious pet squig, Klaw. Unusually cunning even by the standards of successful Ork warlords, Krugdreg combines tactical ingenuity with a cold patience his enemies have often underestimated. He studies defences, prepares ambushes and waits for favourable conditions before committing his strength.

His understanding of weakness extends beyond the battlefield. Rival claims, divided loyalties and wounded pride offer opportunities to provoke one faction while distracting another. He need not understand every detail of an Imperial succession dispute to recognise which commander would rather see a rival beaten than help them win. Humans could be relied upon to hate the wrong enemy.

His indispensable lieutenant, Big Mek Skrapnutta, is obsessed with walkers, shokk attack guns and clanking war engines. His solutions usually require more legs, more guns or a worrying quantity of snotlings.

Among the warband’s veteran leaders are:

  • Grimfist Bonescrapa, the Blood Axe Kommando Nob who formed the Dirty Dozen
  • ’Ardwazzer, an Evil Sunz biker whose appetite for upgrades extends to his own body.
  • Boss Nob “Ironshinz” Gragkrak leads the Stormboyz of Gragkrak’s Crows, striking with rokkit charges and power klaw. His nickname comes from his survival of landings that cost his followers their original legs.
  • The Deff Dread Klamps has been rebuilt so often that arguments persist over which bit is actually Klamps.

Purpose at Vandros

Krugdreg has come to exploit the succession crisis for loot and conquest. Imperial armies watching one another leave convoys, workshops and settlements exposed. Every captured shipment can supply another mob; every seized machine can become part of the next assault.

His ambition extends beyond what the Kutters can presently conquer. Every victory attracts more Orks who have heard there is a proper fight on and suspect someone else is getting their share. Vandros provides both the resources to enlarge his army and the opponents against whom to establish his reputation. The longer its rulers remain divided, the greater the force they may eventually have to face.

Current Stance

The Kutters recognise neither Cassia nor Severan as anything more than rival sources of opportunity. Krugdreg would prefer their forces to exhaust one another while his own grow stronger. Where he can deepen their mistrust or direct their attention elsewhere, he has every reason to do so.

Trade, payment or a common target can purchase temporary cooperation. Krugdreg is willing to deal with outsiders when the arrangement benefits Da Firm, although an agreement with one force provides no protection to its allies, neighbours or supply convoys. Anyone seeking his assistance must also reckon with the grudges already held by his followers.

The Ashwardens and Scroll Holders are persistent enemies with unfinished business. Caius’s pursuit follows the devastation of Vallus Abitum, while Aethos seeks the warboss who escaped the cordon at Morrow’s Anvil. Both threaten Krugdreg’s expansion; their separate duties and disagreements offer opportunities for him to exploit.

The Ironclad 122nd helpfully gather valuable Imperial armour into convenient collections, while the Crimson Paladins’ protection of Imperial populations may bring them into the Kutters’ path. The Blades of Spite are potential competitors for vulnerable prey, although a sufficiently profitable arrangement could briefly align their interests. For Krugdreg, an outsider’s usefulness is judged by what they can deliver—and what Da Firm can gain when the arrangement ends.
